What to do with the extra dye from dying Easter eggs.

Last year we had lots of white roses blooming on our rose bushes. We picked several and stuck them in the cups of extra dye to dye the roses. That experiment actually worked really well. This led to the girls picking weeds and other things to see how well color would be absorbed.

Well, this year the white roses weren't in bloom yet. So, very last minute, I decided to try tie dying with the Easter egg dye. It looked really pretty right after applying the dye (see picture below). Only problem was, when I washed them, most of the dye washed out, so now they mostly look pink.

Ah well, I have to get a hold of some proper tie dying stuff to try again sometime.

Egg dye works well on wool and silk, not so well on cotton.

Cool.
It did stay a little better on H's shirt which is partly polyester. Some of the blue stayed in hers.
