It's all in the way you look at it.
May. 5th, 2008 03:56 pmYesterday, M spent eight or nine hours working on a term paper for a research rotation he took this semester. Having the kids alone with me all day on a Sunday was a struggle. I found myself thinking how annoying it was to be the only parent on call all day long.
Yuck, yuck, yuck.
I was able to stop my own negativity by shifting my thinking. I realized how grateful I am to have a husband willing to use up his entire Sunday day off to get his work done.
Much better.
Anytime I started to slip back into the "poor me" garbage I substituted in my mind how grateful I am to have M in my life. It worked like a charm.
I also applied liberal doses of my Mantra:
*breathe*
slow down
*breathe*
release control
*breathe*
enjoy
The enjoy part is essential; it always gets me to smile.
