Horseback Riding.
Sep. 16th, 2011 06:12 pmI rode Ezra today - the first time in at least a couple of months. Somehow I couldn't motivate myself to ride when we were regularly having temperatures over 100 degrees. But for the past week it's been high nineties.
I figured it's about time to remind him he works for a living (really short, easy work, but work, dang it).
I kept him in the yard and on walk/trot.
Then I gave C a short pony ride.
Then I gave H a longer pony ride until she asked to control him herself. I was actually a little surprised by the request, since the last few times I asked if she wanted to ride Ezra she wasn't that interested (mind you that was several months ago).
So I let H control him in the main yard while I walked nearby - ready to grab him if he decided to be an idiot, but even though he had been a pasture puff most of the summer, he did fine.
Then C needed my help setting up a water park, so I got H and Ezra into the horse/chicken/damn goose yard and left them on their own. Other than Ezra wanting to stop more often than H wanted him to, they got on well.
Best. Free. Horse. Ever.
