"Crazy Cat Lady"

What is it about our house that says, "Young friendly cat, in need of a home, please apply within."
Last October our cat Frankie followed me home from the mailbox. This latest cat (female, about three months old - or a very small cat) showed up at our back door last night at about 2:30 in the morning.
M saw her looking through the glass in the door and let her in - so for the record, she is his fault - I'm so unobservant I'd never have noticed her. The excitement that followed meant that no one got to bed till after four, and I didn't manage to get to sleep till nearly 6am - I was able to let the chickens out of their house before I went to bed.
She's funny. She acts like this is her house and always has been. She's friendly, purrs a lot, and seems to expect me to give her something yummy to eat whenever I wander into the kitchen.
She is not starved, she won't touch the dry food that is standard fare for the cats in our house. This morning I tried adding a little milk to some dry food and she just licked up the milk she could reach and left the rest alone.
Last night she did help herself to some bits of beef left over from dinner. She seems very comfortable with going on the table and counters. Hmmm... not a behavior I condone.
We considered putting her back outside for the night, but when we put her on the front porch her demeanor instantly changed from calm, purring, friendly to nervous, hyper alert. I started worrying about things eating her and offered her the open front door. She made record time getting from the end of the driveway into the house. That settled it. She wanted to be in, and acted like she was supposed to be in. She spent the night curled up in a cute little ball on the living room couch. She greeted me this morning with vigorous purring.
Now she wants me to magically produce some canned food and I don't have any.
