Connectedness
Sep. 11th, 2007 05:11 pmI discovered a new benefit to homeschooling while we were busy visiting the Grandparents a few weeks ago. (New for me, I'm sure lots of other homeschoolers have known this for years ;-)
Connectedness.
While S(4.5), C(1.5) and I were at the park with Grandpa, H(6.5) stayed at the house with Grandma. We were only gone for five hours, and H had a blast, but when we got back to the Grandparents' house I felt very disconnected from H. It took extra effort that evening to reconnect with her. I can't imagine how much harder it would be to maintain a close connected relationship with her if she were away from me five days a week.
