We had our first park day of the season today. I love having park days on our schedual; it makes me feel like we're getting back in the swing of things homechooling wise. It wasn't too hot either, as long as I stayed in the shade and the breeze was blowing.

I was listening to some of the mothers and was amazed and saddened by what I heard. One mother was complaining how she just couldn't stand to waste a day by doing park day.
A waste, she said.
Her kids were happily interacting with other kids, running around getting exercise, playing elaborate games, talking......
She admitted they loved park days, but to her all this joy was a waste. It interfered with the five hours of school work she thought a priority.

We had a grand time, and I think we're really lucky to get park day *every* week this year.
We played superheros, the girls each met a new friend, rolled down the hill, played on the equipment, discovered a patch of flowering bushes with lots of butterflies....
C chased his ball, ran up and down hills, watched all the fun the girls were having and chased "bad guys" with us during our superhero game.
Definitely, *not* a waste for us :)
