Thoughtful Adults
Feb. 1st, 2008 04:28 pmI had a very nice experience yesterday. We were at the park, and H, S, and C were playing with a 3.5 yr old girl who was there with her father (she was a surprise for her parents, their next youngest child is 19). I was chatting with the father, and H asked him if they homeschool (she likes to ask whenever we meet people with children).
Once we established that, while his daughter was not in pre-school, she would go to school when she was school age, H said, "We homeschool."
His response was very thoughtful. He said, "Do you know what that makes you? Lucky."
Wow.
From a man *not* homeschooling his child, he still said a very kind thing to my child.
It reminded me of when H was about 3.5 and she asked a lady, who worked at the beauty parlor, why she smoked (the lady was outside smoking, on a break). The lady answered, "Cause I'm stupid."
