Five days ago I saw an egg on the ground near the chicken house. I had to do a double take, before it dawned on me that it was a goose egg.

The above shot was taken after the first egg was found. I left it in the bucket next to a chicken egg (one of Snow's) for comparison. The cat came up while I was taking some shots and nearly knocked over the bucket trying to get at the eggs.

After we decided to let the geese try to take care of their eggs themselves, I put it back in the horse/damn geese/chicken yard. Two days later we found a second goose egg (nestled next to a chicken egg in a very nest like hole dug out of the the mud and surrounded by hay).

And two more days later - three, three, three!

We should know in a little over a month if all we've managed to do is waste some perfectly tasty goose eggs, or if our experiment will pan out and we'll increase our surplus goose population.

The excitement this has generated in the kids, however, has already made this process well worth it, no matter how it works out in the end.
