Super Fantabulous Day.
Nov. 5th, 2011 03:09 pmIt rained last night, so today everything was just damp enough to not be dusty.
Partially cloudy with a nice breeze made today perfect riding weather.
The girls helped me brush Ezra and fussed over him as all young girls should :). It fit how I imagined having a horse and daughters would be.
After I got Ezra's new bit adjusted properly he was very responsive. I took him out on the road for a ride and H and S walked/ran along with me. When the sun came out from behind the clouds it got a little warm for S (she's still recovering from being sick, so got winded more easily than normal), so I offered to lead Ez and let her ride. On the home stretch I gave H a turn.
M decided he wanted to ride Ezra, too. I think that may only be the third time he has tried in the year and a half we've had Ez. They went for a long loop on the road, and other than still wanting to run M into trees, Ezra did fine.
After a very short ride in the yard, I let Ezra loose to graze.
C hung out with me while I watered the birds.
I worked a little on digging out the fire pit I'm making at the back of our property.
I even enjoyed picking up dog poop with just the ducks, dogs and horse for company.
Such a beautiful afternoon. The weather was perfect.
ETA: Later we went bike riding and then the kids rode scooters. They did fancy maneuvers on the scooters that we dubbed scooter ballet.
Then we fought a fierce battle against some weeds in the front yard. It was a long and arduous struggle, but we finally freed the front gate. It was funny. The kids were talking about fighting the war - H told C and S to kill the generals (the roots).
