Special Visitors.
Nov. 13th, 2011 12:10 pmI don't have many long term friends. You know, the "Oh I've know him/her for twenty years" friends. It turns out, as one gets older, it gets a little easier to be friends with someone that long, but I'm still a little lighter than most in that regards.
One such friend is nearing that 20 year mark. The thing about having a friend for that length of time, we all tend to have had a chance to grow up and have kids. He and his family visited last night. It was a fun visit; adults and kids alike seemed to get along well. It didn't hurt that my friend's kids like swords, shields, and battling in the back yard just about as much as mine.

One of C's favorite memories of the evening was fighting in the backyard with my friend and his kids (C was particularly impressed with my friend's willingness to battle more than once). We haven't seen this batch of kids in nearly five years, so it was fun to see all the changes age can bring.
Now unfortunately, when I'm having such a good time visiting, I tend to forget to take pictures, so I only have a few of the battle practice and some of the fighting. I have none of my friend, his wife, nor their oldest. Maybe I can repair that oversight if we can manage to see them before another five years pass.
