H participated in her 4-H Archery Contest yesterday. It was a county wide contest, but apparently our 4-H group and the one we sometimes practice with are the only ones actively doing shooting sports this year, so there were no new faces, and no more than fifteen total participants.

H had fun. It was a gorgeous walking course. Her group moved from target to target, with different distances from the target and different numbers of arrows allowed at each location. There was only one other kid in her shooting age class (sub-junior), and she was ahead of him score wise the entire time till he nailed it on the last target with 27 points. H's total score was 68. She was the only person (including all the age ranges up through Senior) to get an X on the center circle.

They had a little awards ceremony at the end after everyone got to help themselves to cookies and water. H got a red ribbon for second place. She was very proud of herself.

While the contest was going on S, C and I played an adventure game, following various trails in the area and imagining the benches helped us recover our hearts and water gave us stamina. S said she had so much fun playing with C and me, but, after watching H shoot for a bit and watching the awards ceremony, S decided that next years she wants to participate too.

On the way home we stopped by a park near our old house so the kids could play. M pulled out a soccer ball and H, C, M, and I kicked it around for a bit. S played on the playground, since playing soccer made her too hot. She decided it was a lot funner to play there when she was littler and doesn't want to go back to that particular park again any time soon.
