Rain and Flood day.
Jul. 21st, 2013 09:08 pmIt's a little muddy in the horse pen tonight. Last night we got hit with a doozy of a summer rainstorm. The sort where the rain seems to be falling sideways, the wind is blowing so hard. It looked like flood day, the day before flood day. The road resembled a river.
Then today it rained even more. We still ended up getting a half an hour of flooding. It might have been better to get 45 mins, so the trees in the area we call the tree yard could have gotten deeper watering. We were lucky we got any flood water at all, though. The guy in charge of turning the water on and off, thought everyone would want to cancel because of the rain last night. M happened to see him and made the executive decision to take half an hour (we'd signed up for a whole hour, and that may have been pushing it given nature's addition to our watering efforts).
M had wanted to go shooting with one of the kids today, especially with how less hot than usual it was with all those lovely clouds in the sky. Unfortunately, since those clouds probably dropped an extra half inch of water on top of the inch we got last night, we were worried they'd get stuck in the mud. M decided to try next weekend instead.
So, overall today, the ducks were very happy and the puppy got very muddy.
