Super Smash Bros. on YouTube.
Jul. 22nd, 2013 04:50 pmWe tried a new experiment with things to put on the YouTube channel.
I got out the video recorder and recorded the kids playing Super Smash Bros. together. They have so much loud fun playing that game together, that I figured just having tape of it, even if I couldn't use it on the YouTube channel, would be worth it for the memories.
It turned out I could use the YouTube editor to cut out bad pieces of the video, then string good pieces together to make a fairly entertaining whole.
Yesterday I videoed the kids for about an hour, much of the time they forgot the camera was on. All the verbal exchanges are their natural way of playing the game with each other. The only changes they tried to make for the video was to use the characters names a little more often instead of their own. As it was, I still had to cut out names quite a bit.
Their latest video, Suprise Winner, is my favorite of the Super Smash Bros. variety. They are playing the Gamecube version, since our Wii is acting up and not wanting to read the Super Smash Bros. disk.
The biggest problem with this style of video is our abysmally slow internet speed. It takes forever to upload a 10 minute video. I've had to resort to setting it up to upload right before I got to bed, so by morning I have video to work with on the YouTube editor. With the video I recorded yesterday, we'll probably have a weeks worth of videos if I post them about two a day.
