One week goslings - problem with an eye?
Mar. 19th, 2014 01:41 pmWe've had the geese for a week. One of the yellow (future white goose) ones woke up today with a not quite right eye. It looks red around it and she doesn't open it all the way. When I picked her up earlier, she kept it closed the whole time while she was in my hands. It's her left eye. The other one looks completely normal, so from one side it doesn't look like she has a problem.
When I picked her up to show H a little later in the morning, she kept the sore eye partially open. When I grabbed her just now to verify which eye was the bad one, she kept the sore one nearly completely open. I'd like to see that pattern as a good sign. The eye is the only indication of a problem, she is still eating and drinking and active.
In a few days I have to pick up dog and bird food at the feed store, so if her eye doesn't look improved by then I might pick up some Terramycin ointment for it.
Here's hoping the wait and see approach works out.
