Flood Day and Gophers.
Aug. 27th, 2015 11:15 amIt's happy duck flood day today. It's tougher when those land on a weekday when dear hubby is at work. If you have never lived on an irrigated property before and are planning/hoping to do so in the future, here's a piece of advice.
Avoid buying a corner lot.
It's not because of the traffic, and admittedly, having one fewer fence with a neighbor is nice.
It's the gophers.
We have to guard against water leaks due to gopher holes on two lengths of our property line, instead of just one. This was something we did not understand going in. Gophers are persistent buggers, with extensive tunnels, who are a lot harder to kill once you finish offing all the dumb ones.
Gophers turn an hour and a quarter flood into a three hour struggle.
