Last Karate Tournament.
Apr. 30th, 2017 01:39 pmYesterday, S competed in what will likely be the last karate tournament I will ever have to attend (at least until I have grandchildren), thank goodness.
She did everything. All five events.
She got 3rd (out of 3 competitors) in weapon.
She got 3rd (out of 5 competitors) in forms. Best she's ever done in forms.
She placed in point sparring. Never her best event, even though she is always strong in sparring during practice.
She got 3rd (out of 5 competitors) in sword. This was disappointing, as traditionally sword is her best event.
She got 1st in continuous sparring (out of 4 competitors). It was beautiful. She finally found her element. She was fast, strong, and intense. This was the only time she had an opportunity to compete in continuous sparring (one minute to just beat on each other, rather than having to stop whenever a point hit landed). She was brilliant.
