Developing Grammar
Nov. 20th, 2008 11:54 amI just noticed this morning that C has started using "I" instead of "me", where appropriate. I'm not sure exactly when he made the switch, but I have a live journal entry from Nov 9th, quoting him with the "me".
While playing Lego Star Wars on the Wii (we play a lot of Lego Star Wars together) he said the following:
"I got that for you."
"I got blowed up."
"I want gun open." (I was playing Jango Fett.)
"I have my gun open." (He was playing Boba Fett.)
"I want new one game."
"I ready Mom."
"I got Momma's coins."
"I want go up there."
"I stepping on uh oh guy." (battle droid.)
"Now me sit near you; I can sit near you." (Maybe he's still a bit in transition - this seems to show a conscious choice on his part, since he corrected himself from one sentence to the next.)
"You done being my Skywalker? I done being my Skywalker, too." (Luke Skywalker as a Jedi.)
"I want you help me."(Both I and me in their proper places.)
"I did it."
"Momma, I want you be Skywalker like me."(C the Jedi Luke, me the Padawan Anakin.)
