Crap, crap, crap, crap, lost one of the babies. Charcoal Briquette, the third chick hatched.
She was touch and go the first day, but rallied by the second. Yesterday, I started to worry again, since she was still so small, especially in comparison to the two chicks hatched after her. Today she was sluggish and dopey, then tonight she died. She was four days old, within the range of mysteriously dying because she was probably not born quite right, but it still came as a shock.
We burried her by the cactus in the front yard. I already had that spot picked out for Stone*, though she has defied the odds so far. knock on wood
*Long story that I'll tell another time, hopefully not as part of her eulogy.
