We have not had a mask mandate in our county for nearly two years (never had one statewide). There have been no company required masks, for anywhere I frequent, for long enough that I have gotten used to seeing the faces of the employees I interact with, and the random person still wearing a mask is an anomaly.

That is, until today.

My bank now requires masking of its employees, again. This is a large national bank (it ate our slightly smaller national bank, which had eaten our smaller state bank, which had eaten our very small local bank), so I'm sure its company headquarters are in a much less free place than here. Still, while I was waiting for the completion of my transaction, I was basically having 2020 flashbacks and found breathing a little harder than normal.

God I need a drink.

I have also suffered bank-eating-bank-eating-bank. It's apparently A Thing (along with Third String Healthcare) that you get with living in Greater Rednecklandia. I moved back home after college, in 1996. I got an account at First American Bank Of PA. Then it was Susquehanna. Then it was BB&T. Then it became Truist. I've had four banks in twenty-four years and I haven't ever changed banks. Each time the bank gets acquired or merges or whatever, it gets crappier. *sigh*
