Rojo is a No Go.
Apr. 3rd, 2010 10:05 amRojo got sold out from under us. The owner lost our e-mail and since I hadn't contacted him when he thought I was going to he sold him to someone else.
I called his vet Monday, her tech called me back Tuesday to tell me she had to find Rojo's chart, I called again Wednesday and Thursday, the tech called back Thursday to tell me how busy the vet's been all week, I e-mailed the owner Friday to let him know I'd made no progress with the vet, and he e-mailed me today to tell me he'd deleted my e-mail, assumed I didn't want Rojo since I hadn't e-mailed Monday and sold him last night.
Cookies for anyone who got through that mess of a run on sentence.
Long term we probably dodged a bullet medical cost wise (Rojo was a hard used ex-rope horse, he'd probably have had joint issues within a year or two).
Short term we lost out on a horse that would probably have taught the kids a lot.
I hadn't realized how attached I had gotten to Rojo and he wasn't even ours yet.

Date: 2010-04-04 12:04 am (UTC)I guess the owner thought I was being the flake and canceling the deal without telling him, even though we shook on it and everything *sigh*.
I was dragging my feet a little so our fencing could get done, but it hadn't occurred to me that he would have deleted my e-mail before the deal was closed. I figured if he was wondering about the delay, he would e-mail me.
I suppose I should have e-mailed Monday, but it seemed pretty worthless to send him an e-mail along the lines of, "Um, I called your vet and left a message, but she never got back to me, so I still don't know if your horse is sound enough for me to pay you for."
