For one thing they don't scratch, so that makes them a lot less messy - so far.

For another, they are much more attached to us human types than the chicks ever were (and we've only had them a few hours). With baby chicks, if you take one away from its flock mates it will cheep loudly and frantically while trying to become reunited as quickly as possible.

The goslings seem very attached to each other as well, in fact they are curled up together sleeping right now. The thing is, whenever we left their sight they did that same loud frantic cheeping as the chicks, only they were frantically missing us.

When we got them today, I first set them up in a large cage we got for the chickens a long time ago. I gave them a nice big water, food and a lamp for heat. However, I eventually shifted them into the much smaller cat carrier so they could be two feet from my head, and finally feel calm and not so lonely. This set up won't work longer than a week, given how fast they are likely to grow, so I hope they get better about being left alone.
